DAY 1: THURSDAY 07 SEPTEMBER 2023
ARRIVE IN PARIS, FRANCE

Tonight, join your Tour Director for a welcome dinner at a local restaurant. (D)

 

Tour one - Day 1

DAY 2: FRIDAY 08 SEPTEMBER
PARIS

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel this morning followed by a guided Paris sightseeing tour that features the Arc de Triomphe, les Champs-Elysees, and a visit to the Courtyard of Les Invalides. This afternoon will be at leisure. This evening, transfer via coach to Stade de France, Saint-Denis for the Rugby World Cup Opening Ceremony and the first match, France vs New Zealand. Game start time 9:00 pm. After the match, the coach will transfer you back to the hotel. (B)

DAY 3: SATURDAY 09 SEPTEMBER
PARIS

In the morning enjoy a Seine River cruise and see some of Paris’s iconic landmarks, followed by a visit to Montmartre to see the white-domed basilica that overlooks the artistic heart of Paris. Included is a trip up the 130m hill on the little train. This evening, transfer via coach to Stade de France, Saint-Denis for the first Pool C match, Australia vs Europe 1. Game start time 6:00 pm. After the match, the coach will transfer you back to the hotel. (B)

DAY 4: SUNDAY 10 SEPTEMBER
PARIS – VERSAILLE – LOIRE VALLEY

Today we head out of Paris and stop at a world heritage site, the Palace and gardens of Versailles, built by the "Sun King," Louis XIV. Explore the halls, ballrooms and sprawling landscaping of this Royal residence. Continue to the Loire Valley for an afternoon free to relax. You may wish to sample traditional cuisine at a local restaurant. (B)

DAY 5: MONDAY 11 SEPTEMBER
LOIRE VALLEY

A wonderful day: visit two of the most important castles in the area. Start with the jewel of the French Renaissance, Chateau Chambord, the largest castle in the Loire Valley, originally built to serve as a hunting lodge for Francis I. Next is the 16th-century chateau of Catherine de Medici, lovely Chenonceau. End this fascinating day with a wine tasting at the Pere Auguste wine cellar in Civray de Touraine to learn about the local wines and enjoy lunch by the vineyard. (B,L)

DAY 6: TUESDAY 12 SEPTEMBER
LOIRE VALLEY - BORDEAUX

Join your Tour Director for a walking tour through this elegant city on the Garonne River. Tonight, savour dinner at the well known Brasserie Bordelaise restaurant. (B,D)

DAY 7: WEDNESDAY 13 SEPTEMBER
BORDEAUX

Today, an exclusive wine tasting has been arranged for you to learn all about the local wines for which the Bordeaux area is famous. We will then travel to the charming village of Saint Emilion and enjoy some free time for lunch. (B)

DAY 8: THURSDAY 14 SEPTEMBER
BORDEAUX – ARCACHON – DUNE DU PILAT - TOULOUSE

Stop in the seaside town of Arcachon, famous for oyster harvesting, and marvel at the Dune du Pilat, the tallest sand dune in Europe. This afternoon arrive in Toulouse and enjoy time to explore on you own. (B)

DAY 9: FRIDAY 15 SEPTEMBER
TOULOUSE

Today is at leisure so go at your own pace and relax or explore as you choose. This evening be transferred to Stadium de Toulouse for Pool A game, New Zealand vs Africa 1. Game start time 9:00 pm. After the match, the coach will transfer you back to the hotel. (B)

DAY 10: SATURDAY 16 SEPTEMBER
TOULOUSE – CARCASSONNE – NIMES

Before departing, take a walking tour around the city with your Tour Director to make sure you don’t miss a thing. Next is the beautifully preserved, medieval town of Carcassonne. Enjoy a leisurely walk by the ancient battlements and city walls before continuing to Nimes. (B)

DAY 11: SUNDAY 17 SEPTEMBER
NIMES – PONT DU GARD – AVIGNON - ST. ETIENNE – LYON

At Pont du Gard, marvel at the largest remaining Roman aqueduct in France, a monumental feat of engineering completed in 19 BC and then continue to Avignon for lunch. Travelling north to Stade Geoffroy Guichard, St Etienne, for the Pool C match Australia vs Fiji. Game time starts at 5:45pm. After the game be transferred to your accommodation in nearby Lyon. (B)
