DAY 1: FRIDAY 13 OCTOBER 2023
ARRIVE IN NICE, FRANCE

Tonight, join your Tour Director for a welcome dinner at a local restaurant. (D)

DAY 2: SATURDAY 14 OCTOBER
NICE - MARSEILLE

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel this morning, followed by a transfer the busy seaport of Marseilles. Enjoy lunch at a private yachting club in the old city. This afternoon be transferred to Stade Vélodrome, Marseille for the Quarter Final 1 match. Game start time 5:00 pm. After the match, the coach will transfer you back to the hotel. (B,L)

DAY 3: SUNDAY 15 OCTOBER
MARSEILLE

This morning’s city tour with a local guide visits the neo-byzantine Notre Dame de la Garde Basilica, spectacularly located on a limestone outcrop near the Old Port on the foundations of an ancient fort. We will then enjoy wine tasting in a wine bistro. This afternoon be transferred to Stade Vélodrome, Marseille for the Quarter Final 3 match. Game start time 5:00 pm. After the match, the coach will transfer you back to the hotel. (B)

DAY 4: MONDAY 16 OCTOBER
MARSEILLE – AIX-EN-PROVENCE

This morning visit Aix-en-Provence, one of France's most elegant cities. It was the birthplace of painter Cezanne and has always attracted artists from around the world. Join a local guide for a pleasant walk to the Market Square and wander through the maze of small streets and along shaded Cours Mirabeau.

Have some free time before enjoying a picnic lunch in a local vineyard and a petanques (bocce ball) tournament. Return to your hotel where the remainder of the day is at leisure. (B,L)

DAY 5: TUESDAY 17 OCTOBER
AIX-EN-PROVENCE - PONT DU GARD - AVIGNON

Travel to Pont du Gard and marvel at the largest remaining Roman aqueduct in France, a monumental feat of engineering completed in 19 BC. Next, onto Avignon, a walled town on the Rhone River which became the residence of the popes in the 14th century. During your walking tour, take pictures of the magnificent Palace of the Popes and the famous bridge, and browse through the colourful shops that sell traditional products made in Provence, like cloth, honey, herbs, and nougat candy. You will have free time for lunch followed by an included a wine tasting at Popes Palace.

DAY 6: WEDNESDAY 18 OCTOBER
AVIGNON - LYON

This morning we will travel to Lyon, beautifully situated between two rivers, the Rhone and the Saone. Sit back and relax during a private cruise on the Rhone and Saone Rivers with a Local Guide, who will explain the sights. Time to walk through old Lyon to discover the Traboules, secret, hidden passageways winding their way through buildings and along staircases, with a history going back to the 4th century. Continue to your hotel where the remainder of the day is at leisure. (B)

DAY 7: THURSDAY 19 OCTOBER
LYON - DIJON

Continue to Dijon, capital of Burgundy and famous for mustard. During your orientation with the Tour Director, hear about the dukes who ruled over the area, admire the architecture, and learn about toits bourguignons (Burgundian polychrome roofs). The remainder of the day is at leisure. (B)

DAY 8: FRIDAY 20 OCTOBER
DIJON - PARIS

Today we will travel back to Paris. This evening, transfer via coach to Stade de France, Saint-Denis for the Semi Final 1 match. Game start time 9:00pm. After the match, the coach will transfer you back to the hotel. (B)

DAY 9: SATURDAY 21 OCTOBER
PARIS

This morning is at leisure for you to enjoy Paris. In the afternoon enjoy a Seine river cruise and see some of Paris’s iconic landmarks, followed by a visit to Montmartre to see the white-domed basilica that overlooks the artistic heart of Paris. Included is a trip up the 130m hill on the little train. This evening, transfer via coach to Stade de France, Saint-Denis for the Semi Final 2 match. Game start time 9:00pm. After the match, the coach will transfer you back to the hotel. (B)

DAY 10: SUNDAY 22 OCTOBER
PARIS – VILLERS BRETONNEUX

After breakfast at the hotel, we will depart Paris and head north to Villers Bretonneux to visit the monument dedicated to Australian Troops who saved the town and learn about the ongoing relationship this town has with Australia. We will then visit the New Zealand Memorial and Cemetery, the South African National Museum and 2 sights at Longueval. Next; we will travel to where the Battle of Somme took place, where we will see several sites including the costliest battle for Australia where 23,000 were killed or wounded and John Monash Centre. Continue to the hotel in Amiens for an evening at leisure. (B)

DAY 11: MONDAY 23 OCTOBER
AMIENS – GIVERNY - CAEN

This morning we will travel to Giverny, where we will visit Claude Monet's House and Gardens. The master of Impressionism created the flower and water gardens himself, an inspiration for his famous water lily series. You will have time to explore the gardens and see his charming residence. Enjoy free time for lunch & then continue to the hotel in Caen. Dinner will be at your hotel this evening. (B,D)

DAY 12: TUESDAY 24 OCTOBER
CAEN – MONT ST. MICHEL – LOIRE VALLEY

Visit the famous Mont St. Michel Abbey, with a history going back to the 8th century and spectacularly perched on a rocky isle. Enjoy free time for lunch & then continue to the Loire Valley. This evening is at leisure. (B)

DAY 13: WEDNESDAY 25 OCTOBER
LOIRE VALLEY; EXCURSION TO CHATEAUX COUNTRY

A wonderful day: visit two of the most important castles in the area. Start with the jewel of the French Renaissance, Chateau Chambord, the largest castle in the Loire Valley, originally built to serve as a hunting lodge for Francis I. Next is the 16th-century chateau of Catherine de Medici, lovely Chenonceau. End this fascinating day with a wine tasting at the Pere Auguste wine cellar in Civray de Touraine to learn about the local wines before returning to your hotel. This evening we will have a unique dining experience at the Chateau de Nitray. (B,D)

LOIRE VALLEY – VERSAILLES - PARIS

Today we will visit the impressive Palace and Garden of Versailles, built by the "Sun King," Louis XIV. Explore the halls, ballrooms and sprawling landscaping of this Royal residence. Upon arrival in Paris enjoy time at leisure. This evening enjoy a Gala dinner organised by French Attitude 2023 to celebrate the Rugby World Cup. Return transfers are included. (B)

PARIS

Today enjoy a guided visit to Paris’s famous art museum, the Louvre to see some of the highlights on display. Once a royal palace and now a museum housing one of the most famous art collections in the world. This evening, transfer via coach to Stade de France, Saint-Denis for the Bronze Final. Game start time 9:00pm. After the match, the coach will transfer you back to the hotel. (B)
