DAY 1: FRIDAY 13 OCTOBER 2023 - ARRIVE IN PARIS, FRANCE

Tonight, join your Tour Director for a welcome dinner at a local restaurant. (D)

 

Tour one - Day 2

DAY 2: SATURDAY 14 OCTOBER – PARIS

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel this morning followed by a guided Paris sightseeing tour that features the Arc de Triomphe, les Champs-Elysees, and a visit to the Courtyard of Les Invalides. This afternoon will be at leisure. This evening, transfer via coach to Stade de France, Saint-Denis for the Quarter Final 2 match. Game start time 9:00pm. After the match, the coach will transfer you back to the hotel. (B)

DAY 3: SUNDAY 15 OCTOBER – PARIS

Today is at leisure for you to enjoy Paris. This evening, transfer via coach to Stade de France, Saint-Denis for the Quarter Final 4 match. Game start time 9:00pm. After the match, the coach will transfer you back to the hotel. (B)

DAY 4: MONDAY 16 OCTOBER – PARIS – VILLERS BRETONNEUX; EXCURSION TO THE SOMME – AMIENS

After breakfast at the hotel, we will depart Paris and head north to Villers Bretonneux to visit the monument dedicated to Australian Troops who saved the town and learn about the ongoing relationship this town has with Australia. We will then visit the New Zealand Memorial and Cemetery, the South African National Museum and 2 sights at Longueval. Next; we will travel to where the Battle of Somme took place, where we will see several sites including the costliest battle for Australia where 23,000 were killed or wounded and the John Monash Centre. Continue to the hotel in Amiens for an evening at leisure. (B)

DAY 5: TUESDAY 17 OCTOBER – AMIENS – GIVERNY – CAEN

This morning we will travel to Giverny, where we will visit Claude Monet's House and Gardens. The master of Impressionism created the flower and water gardens himself, an inspiration for his famous water lily series. You will have time to explore the gardens and see his charming residence. Enjoy free time for lunch & then continue to the hotel in Caen. Dinner will be at your hotel this evening. (B,D)

DAY 6: WEDNESDAY 18 OCTOBER – CAEN – MONT ST. MICHEL – LOIRE VALLEY

Visit the famous Mont St. Michel Abbey, with a history going back to the 8th century and spectacularly perched on a rocky isle. Enjoy free time for lunch & then continue to the Loire Valley. This evening is at leisure. (B)

DAY 7: THURSDAY 19 OCTOBER – LOIRE VALLEY

A wonderful day: visit two of the most important castles in the area. Start with the jewel of the French Renaissance, Chateau Chambord, the largest castle in the Loire Valley, originally built to serve as a hunting lodge for Francis I. Next is the 16th-century chateau of Catherine de Medici, lovely Chenonceau. End this fascinating day with a wine tasting at the Pere Auguste wine cellar in Civray de Touraine to learn about the local wines before returning to your hotel. This evening we will have a unique dining experience at the Chateau de Nitray. (B,D)

DAY 8: FRIDAY 20 OCTOBER – LOIRE VALLEY – PARIS

Today we will travel back to Paris. En-route, we will stop in Le Mans home to the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans race, one of the greatest endurance car races in the world. Visit the museum where you will see all the famous cars, Bentley, Ferrari, Jaguar, Porsche, Audi and more. This evening, transfer via coach to Stade de France, Saint-Denis for the Semi Final 1 match. Game start time 9:00pm. After the match, the coach will transfer you back to the hotel. (B)

DAY 9: SATURDAY 21 OCTOBER – PARIS

This morning is at leisure for you to enjoy Paris. In the afternoon enjoy a Seine river cruise and see some of Paris’s iconic landmarks, followed by a visit to Montmartre to see the white-domed basilica that overlooks the artistic heart of Paris. Included is a trip up the 130m hill on the little train. This evening, transfer via coach to Stade de France, Saint-Denis for the Semi Final 2 match. Game start time 9:00pm. After the match, the coach will transfer you back to the hotel. (B)

DAY 10: SUNDAY 22 OCTOBER - PARIS – REIMS - METZ

Drive to Reims, city of champagne, and enjoy a special champagne tasting. Also recognised by UNESCO, France's Champagne region is celebrated for its specialised artisan activity that has become an agro- industrial enterprise. Next, visit the impressive Notre Dame De Reims Cathedral, where the Kings of France were crowned. Considered one of the most beautiful examples of gothic art, the 800-year-old cathedral was one of the first monuments registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Later, arrive in Metz, located at the confluence of the Moselle and Seine Rivers. Enjoy an orientation of this 3,000-year- old city and visit the magnificent gothic Cathedral, famous for its glass-stained windows. This evening is at leisure. (B)

DAY 11: MONDAY 23 OCTOBER – METZ – STRASBOURG - COLMAR

Today we will enter the Alsace region and arrive in Strasbourg, where the European Parliament has its plenary sessions four days each month. A boat cruise is the best way to see Strasbourg with its Little France District and the impressive European Union institutions. Continue to Colmar where dinner will be either at a local restaurant or at the hotel. (B,D)

DAY 12: TUESDAY 24 OCTOBER – COLMAR

Explore Colmar and the famous Little Venice district with its half-timbered houses by little train. The remainder of the day is at leisure. (B)

DAY 13: WEDNESDAY 25 OCTOBER – COLMAR – BEAUNE - DIJON

Enter Burgundy and arrive in Beaune, wine capital of the region, for an orientation of this beautiful town. Admire Notre Dame Basilica and visit the impressive Hotel Dieu, originally founded as a hospital for the poor. We will also enjoy a wine tasting at a local vineyard. Continue to Dijon, capital of Burgundy and famous for mustard. During your orientation, hear about the dukes who ruled over the area, admire the architecture, and learn about toits bourguignons (Burgundian polychrome roofs). (B)

DAY 14: THURSDAY 26 OCTOBER – DIJON – VERSAILLES – PARIS

Today we will visit the impressive Palace and Garden of Versailles, built by the "Sun King," Louis XIV. Explore the halls, ballrooms and sprawling landscaping of this Royal residence. Upon arrival in Paris enjoy time at leisure. This evening enjoy a Gala dinner to celebrate the Rugby World Cup. Return transfers are included. (B)
